Buccaneers Receive Trade Interest In Mike Glennon

Mar 26, 2015 2:14 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are receiving trade calls about the availability of Mike Glennon.

The Buccaneers are widely expected to select Jameis Winston with the first overall pick.

"We've had the first pick and we've been taking calls for a long period of time, and I assume that would go right up until the draft," Smith said, per the Tampa Bay Times. "Yes, specifically on Glennon."

The Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills are two teams that could have interest in Glennon.

Zimmer: Vikings Have No Plans To Trade Adrian Peterson

Mar 25, 2015 1:55 PM

Mike Zimmer has reiterated the Minnesota Vikings' position that they aren't planning on trading Adrian Peterson.

Zimmer also clarified a comment he made to Pro Football Talk earlier in the offseason, saying, “I never once said I would accommodate him” by trading Peterson if that’s what he really wanted.

“I’m not going to speculate on what he wants or doesn’t want,” Zimmer said. “Adrian’s under contract for three more years with us and that’s why you sign these contracts. That’s why you get these big bonuses, you know?”

Peterson has three seasons remaining on the six-year, $96 million contract he signed in 2011.

“We have no plans to trade Adrian,” said Zimmer.

LeSean McCoy Trade Took Only 30 Minutes

Mar 24, 2015 10:56 PM

The LeSean McCoy trade to the Buffalo Bills came together very quickly. The trade was one of the biggest in the NFL in recent history.

The trade took just 30 minutes to complete after the Bills were "stunned" to learn that the Philadelphia Eagles were interested in trading McCoy.

"The trade for LeSean happened really quick," Ryan said at the NFL owners meetings. "We were all sitting there. We were having organizational meetings. ... And all of the sudden we get this call from Philadelphia and I think that was when the trade started. Probably 30 minutes later, the trade was done."

The Eagles called the Bills about McCoy being on the market, which surprised the Bills.

"We were just kind of, like, stunned there for a little bit," Ryan said. "We're like, 'Really? Wow.' All right, so let's just take it from there. Obviously we were interested and then the trade came down. We knew it wasn't going to be cheap by any stretch. And losing a player like Kiko Alonso is obviously a steep price, but we felt really good about it."

Agent: Adrian Peterson Wants To Leave Vikings

Mar 25, 2015 12:08 PM

Adrian Peterson's agent admitted publicly that he'd like to leave the Minnesota Vikings.

Ben Dogra hadn't spoken publicly on the standoff between his client and the Vikings in nearly three months.

When asked if he thought Peterson would return to Minnesota he said in full: "I don't think it's in Adrian's best interest to play in Minnesota. Why would it be?"

The Vikings have said they will not release Peterson, meaning a team would have to trade for him.

Saints Insist They Won't Trade Drew Brees

Mar 24, 2015 11:18 AM

The New Orleans Saints insist they won't trade Drew Brees.

"Anybody who thinks we're trading Drew Brees, that's just not true," general manager Mickey Loomis told USA TODAY Sports' Jim Corbett.

Brees had a down season in 2014 and the Saints appear to be rebuilding.

Loomis also took issue with the perception that the Saints' salary cap is a mess necessitating many of the moves.

"We're not in cap jail," Loomis said. "That's a myth since it's always a year to year deal."

The Saints started roughly $23 million over the threshold before moves put them slightly under the $143.2 million cap.

Adrian Peterson Prefers To Leave Vikings

Mar 22, 2015 6:51 PM

Adrian Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, confirmed Friday that he declined an invitation to meet with Vikings general manager Rick Spielman at the owners meetings after Spielman informed him Wednesday that the Vikings would not release Peterson. The news, which was first reported on Friday by Yahoo! Sports, is another sign that the Vikings and Peterson remain at odds.

A league source said Peterson's preference is to play for another team in 2015.

Peterson is under contract through 2017, and is scheduled to make $12.75 million this season. The Vikings appear willing to pay Peterson his salary for 2015, and a restructured contract would likely put some guaranteed money in Peterson's bank account in place of a deal that currently has none remaining.
